Ontario Announces Provincial Emergency and Stay-at-Home Order
Dear community members,
The Ontario government has announced a Provincial Emergency and new Stay-at-Home orders, effective Thursday, April 8 12:01am. These measures are being taken in response to the rapid increase in COVID-19 transmission, the threat on the province’s hospital system capacity, and the increasing risks posed to the public by COVID-19 variants.
These new orders require everyone to remain at home except for essential purposes, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services (including getting vaccinated), for outdoor exercise, or for work that cannot be done remotely. Majority of non-essential retail stores will be limited to curb-side pick up, but essential services like grocery and pharmacies will be operating at limited store capacity.
SAWRO encourages everyone to take these public health measures with the utmost severity as active cases increase everyday. Please follow health guidelines from public health officials of staying home as much as possible, properly wearing a mask in public, and maintaining hygiene etiquette to protect yourself and others in the community. We must all work together to limit the spread of the virus in our communities!
